Finding Your Way Back: Specialist Psychiatric Support from Home

Feeling overwhelmed by daily life can be incredibly isolating, and we believe that finding the right help should not add to your burden. If you are struggling with your mental well-being, our online psychiatric consultations offer a clear, compassionate path forward. We provide professional medical support so you can access specialist psychiatrists without the added stress of travel or waiting rooms.
Emergency and Acute Care Notice Psych United does not provide acute care or emergency services. If you are in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in immediate danger, please contact your local Mental Health Service or go to the nearest Emergency Department immediately.

Why See a Psychiatrist via Video Consultation?

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialises in the complex relationship between your physical health and your mental state. While many professionals support mental health, a psychiatrist offers a medical perspective that is often the "missing piece" in long-term recovery.
  • Precision Diagnosis: A comprehensive psychiatric assessment helps identify the "why" behind your symptoms and rules out underlying physical health issues.
  • Medication Management: Our specialists provide expert guidance on prescriptions, ensuring that any clinical treatment is safe, effective, and tailored to you.
  • Evidence-Based Therapy: We combine medical expertise with proven therapeutic approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to help you build resilience.
Telehealth for anxiety and depression is a highly effective way to get the support you need. Research shows that online sessions offer the same clinical outcomes as in-person visits, allowing you to receive consistent support in an environment where you already feel safe.

Understanding Our Fees and Medicare

We are committed to transparent pricing so you can focus on your health rather than your finances. Our billing is structured to remain accessible:
  • Medicare Rebates: Most consultations are eligible for significant Medicare rebates, provided you have a valid GP referral.
  • Bulk Billing for Rural Patients: To support those in regional Australia, we offer bulk-billed ongoing appointments for patients located in rural areas (Modified Monash Model areas MM2-7).
  • Transparent Costs: * Initial General Psychiatry Consultation: $575 (with a Medicare rebate of approximately $262.10).
  • Ongoing Appointments (MM1 areas): Rates vary by duration, with rebates available to reduce your out-of-pocket costs.
